Litoral Peru (Peru)
The writer Ernest Hemingway was a frequent visitor to the Peruvian coast with its large fish were the inspiration for his famous novel The Old Man and the Sea. This is not by chance that the fishery in Peru was considered as an activity of greater importance, the variety of species and the richness that gives Peruvian sea. All along the Pacific coast, the fanatics of this activity will launch their line from a rough rock or from the beach or a boat. Lenguados, mierlines, Corvina, Chita, róbalos, pámpanos are precious few examples of species that can be fished in the waters of the Pacific.
Tambopata Reserve / South Amazonia (Peru)
Peru not only offers the opportunity to discover new horizons, to face unknown fish or live an unusual adventure. From the Peruvian Amazon, it is especially the promise of sumptuous peaches, hope a little crazy to live his passion elsewhere and otherwise, to make an unusual fishing fish trophy in a fabulous country, in an exceptional environment that we call green hell and really, Puerto Maldonado, looks more like the paradise of predator anglers.
The paiche / the dream of every fisherman (Bolivia and Peru)
The paiche (the freshwater fish the largest in the world), or Arapaima, is the holding expected of the Amazon fishermen.
It is the largest of all freshwater fish bone: he was caught that weighed 250 kg, five meters long. Her mouth, huge, covered with tiny sharp teeth, widely open, and creates a vortex at the surface of the water when the arapaima goes “gobble” prey. The Arapaima stands up very well when fished with cane, but he survives a bad back in the water.
Fishing boat (Peru)
The fishing vessel also has two major variants: the pinteo or fishing with the boat in a shutdown state and trolling or fishing with the boat in motion: The prey captured by the practice of punteo – in the central and southern coast – are generally the same as that obtained in the creeks. In the north you can fish for eels, groupers and toyos (shark species). Trolling is practiced mostly in the north with the help of artificial lures or muestras. Among the most common species you can fish are tuna, Cherel, agujillas, sawfish, plumas, pericos and whiting.
Freshwater Fishing (Bolivia and Peru)
Freshwater fishing also has two variants: one that is practiced in rivers and lakes of the Sierra – generally above 2,500 m – and one that is practiced in the Amazon rainforest. Fishing in the mountains is limited to two varieties fishery introduced a century ago: trout and pejerrey. They occur very frequently in the rivers of clear waters and well oxygenated. Trout (white, pink or rainbow) predominate in altitudes higher than 3,000 meters above sea level.
Sport fishing (Peru)
Sport fishing in the Amazon rainforest – less developed than the coast fishing – focuses on some rivers and lakes of northern Amazonia (Iquitos and surroundings) where we find the Tucunare the gamitana and Araguani among the preferred prey. This type of fishing can also be practiced in some parts of southern Amazonia (Madre de Dios) where there are very frequent zúngaros, chamber, pacos and doncellas.
