Carnival

Want to dance, carnival and folklore show?
For lovers of music, dance, costumes, local cultures, and for those who wish to travel at the “rhythm”, I suggest you explore Peru and Bolivia, countries where the music and carnivals have a place omnipresent at its frenzied cries of the dancers and traditional songs.
These two countries who live to the rhythm of Carnival, will offer a unique color, but it still must be there at the right place at the right time …

Oruro Carnival (Bolivia)

This is certainly the biggest carnival all of South America: Oruro. The Carnival of the city of Oruro is the most important in the country. During the processions mingled Christian and pagan beliefs and wild dances. Thousands of people from all over Bolivia come together.

Carnival in Tarija (Bolivia)

The department most in southern Bolivia, although historically linked to Potosi, it is culturally closer to Argentina than in the Andes. This region, halfway between the Andes and the Oriente, cultivates a way of life that celebrates music, wine and humor of the most inventive country.
All the people wearing colorful costumes and carnivals are all over town.

Inti Raymi (Peru and Bolivia)

The Inti Raymi is the celebration of the Sun, which coincides with the winter solstice and the harvest. In Peru, the ceremony is staged in the fortress of Sacsayhuaman (Cusco), according to the scenario developed which includes the sacrifice of two llamas to predict the future. In Bolivia, a similar festival is held at Tiwanaku.

Carnival in Puno (Peru)

This region of Peru is famous for the variety and colors of its folklore, probably the richest and most fascinating part of this continent. His most important representation is the Virgen de la Candelaria, held in February.
The main day, February 2, the Virgin is transported to the city in a colorful procession. The dance of demons, or “diablada”, is the leading dance festivals.

Tarabuco Carnival (Bolivia)

It is a Quechua Carnival, which is a really celebration (2nd Sunday in March) to honor the dead.
The originality of the costumes worn during carnival has nothing to envy the wildest creations of haute couture. The dance is accompanied by music played on wind traditional instruments and percussion. This dance, funeral originally was performed in tribute to victims of the Battle of Jumbate. ?

Coke and Offering to the Earth (Bolivia and Peru)

You will see many ceremonies, rituals, celebration for Mother Earth: The Columbian religiosity persists even today and especially in the Andean world, through ancestral rites linking man to nature and where Earth is the great importance symbolic.

Paucartambo (Peru)

Typical colonial town in the valley surrounded by the River Paucartambo (2906 m altitude.), 109 km southeast of Cusco, with narrow cobbled streets, whitewashed houses with bright blue balconies. The festivities are celebrated in honor of its patron saint, “Virgen del Carmen” (July 16). During these festivals the peaceful tranquility of this Andean town turns into a whirlwind of color and music.

The Birthday Madre de Dios (Peru)

In late December, 26, on the whole region of Madre de Dios (Amazon) the celebrations begin the day before with serenades and dances. The day held public processions, sports leagues, craft fairs and Christmas fairs.

Trujillo (Peru)

The Colosseum Mansiche of Trujillo serves as decorations of the National Contest of Marinera, a couple dancing of the most elegant of Peru. The dancers move by waving a white scarf and run a series of uncharacteristic. He wears a poncho and hat, as paso horse rider, and she a lovely and typical regional costume.

Return of the Magic Kings (Bolivia)

2nd Sunday of the year in the region of Beni, big party in January in honor of the return of the Magic Kings, the “Negros” dance the “Moperas del barco” and ” Machetero del Niño Jesús .

San Cristobal de Huamanga (Peru)

It was during one week towards the end of March that concentrates the largest fervent religious sentiment of man of the Andes. In San Cristobal de Huamanga, capital of Ayacucho, located in the central highlands of the country at 2,761 meters above sea level, takes place one of the strongest adaptations of the passion, death and resurrection of Christ. ? ?
